Finland’s representatives in the European Parliament
The citizens of every EU member state may elect their own representatives to the European Parliament. They are elected by direct public ballot for five years at a time. Any EU citizen may declare him- or herself as a candidate in the elections to the European Parliament.
The representatives in the European Parliament are often called MEPs. The name is short for the English words ‘Member of the European Parliament’.
