Non-governmental organisations heard in the EU

Non-governmental organisations are given the possibility to express their opinions on topical questions to the European Commission. The European Commission launches new projects and grants money for projects that are important to society. Every second year the European Commission and Social Platform hold a joint discussion for non-governmental organisations. When certain issues like employment are to be discussed, the Commission invites labour and employer organisations to talk about the matter.

Through the non-governmental organisations, all the citizens have the possibility of influencing decision making and preparation of issues in the European Union. NGOs and associations can join Europe-wide umbrella organisations with direct contacts to the European Commission.
