Citizens may elect their own representatives to the European Parliament

The citizens are given the opportunity to take active part in the EU. All the EU citizens may vote in the elections to the European Parliament for any candidate they wish. They may also stand as candidates in the elections. The European Parliament elections are the most important way of influencing EU affairs. That is why it is important that every EU citizen uses his or her right to vote. It makes sense to choose the best and most expert candidate who represents the same values as you.

There are 13 representatives from Finland in the European Parliament. Before the elections the candidates are presented in TV and radio. Also, the internet provides a lot of information on the candidates and their opinions.
